February's Florida Resiliency Character Trait is GRIT
This month, our focus turns to Grit, a cornerstone of Florida’s Resiliency initiative. Grit is defined as passion and perseverance toward long-term goals—it is the inner strength to keep going even when things get difficult. By cultivating this trait, we encourage our students to view challenges not as roadblocks, but as opportunities to grow, proving that success is often a marathon, not a sprint.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS
Kali King
A fixture of the Odyssey community for nine years, Kali King has certainly left a musical mark on the halls, most notably through her dedication to the Saxophone and standout performances like the Winter Band Concert. When reflecting on their academic journey, Kali credits Mrs. Mullins (Parrish) for making education both easy and engaging, noting that her 9th Grade World History course was the definitive highlight of high school. Looking toward the horizon, Kali plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in cardiac sonography before embarking on a distinguished career in the Air Force.
Aiden Upton
An Odyssey veteran through and after, Aiden Upton has spent a remarkable 13 years as part of the student body, during which he became well-known for his soccer seasons shared with friends and his unique ability to show off being double-jointed. For Aiden, the high school experience was fueled by the legendary school lunch sliders and the mentorship of Mr. Frank, whom he admires for being a funny, practical, and truly great teacher. After graduation, Aiden is heading to South Carolina for college, where he plans to turn his passion for how things work into a career as an aeronautical mechanic.
Maelyssa Elysee
Since joining the Odyssey family in 2019, Maelyssa Elysee has become a vibrant presence on campus as a trilingual color-guard captain known for her infectious smile. For Maelyssa, the highlight of senior year wasn't a single event, but rather the shared journey of growth and the pride of watching her classmates carve out their own unique paths. She found a home in Mrs. Kevelin’s classroom, valuing the comfortable environment that allowed for open discussions on a wide range of subjects. While she will miss the daily camaraderie and the relief of seeing friends after a long class, Maelyssa is ready to tackle a bold dual career path: saving lives as a NICU nurse while simultaneously building a future in real estate.

Honor Roll Breakfast

We extend our sincere accolades to these scholars for their hard work and perseverance; your commitment to excellence is an inspiration to the entire school community, and we look forward to seeing your continued success throughout the rest of the year. Technology Display at STEAM
The Technology class stand at the STEAM Fair was a great success, drawing significant interest from students and families alike. Many 5th‑grade students were especially enthusiastic, expressing excitement about the hands‑on projects and creative activities presented. Their curiosity and engagement throughout the event led several of them to say they are eager to enroll in the Technology class next school year. This strong interest highlights how impactful the fair was in inspiring future learners and encouraging participation in STEM-related opportunities.
