WHAT'S HAPPENING ON THE ODYSSEY JR/SR CAMPUS?

Intervention: Where Learning Takes Flight

Ms. Jayden Griswell's intervention class is buzzing with active learning! Students are diligently absorbing information by taking notes and studying the civics content. But it's not just rote memorization. They're going beyond the textbook by creating organizers that help them structure their understanding and make connections between different concepts.

Imagine the excitement of a student who realizes that the seemingly abstract concept of representative democracy directly impacts their lives, or the empowerment they feel when they identify ways to participate in their community. By making these real-life connections, Ms. Griswell's intervention class is not just teaching civics, it's cultivating engaged and informed citizens.

Math Club Competition

OCS Jr Sr Math Club competed in their first competition on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Kennedy Space Center. The team consisted of 7 sixth graders and 2 seventh graders who helped their team finish in top 5. OCS Jr/Sr was the only team with sixth graders! Math Counts is a national math program for grades 6 through 8. Cris Lawler was our team's top performer, and Mary Donnelly received a prize for discovering an error on the t-shirts involving a missing line of pi. We are so proud of this team and look forward to growing the program.

AVID Student Service Learning

August Lewis has taken it upon herself to assist the cafe staff in transitioning from B to C lunch. Every day she helps clean tables and floors so the high school students get a few extra minutes in the cafe.   Way to go, August!  Your impact is recognized and commended!
