SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS
Soroyo Hickman
Since starting Odyssey in 6th grade, Soroyo has made a name for herself through a blend of creative ambition and memorable school spirit. A writer at heart, Soroyo is currently focused on crafting stories with the ultimate goal of seeing them published as books. While academics are a priority, she is not afraid to spark some fun, fondly recalling the time she and her friends successfully started a massive congo line during homecoming.
Looking back on her academic journey, Soroyo highlights Ms. Mullins as a favorite teacher, noting that her engaging personality made the classroom both fun and productive. Although she will miss the kind people she has met throughout the years, Soroyo is focused on a rigorous future. Her post-graduation plans include earning a degree in biochemistry, completing four years of medical school, and eventually becoming an anesthesiologist.
Zipporah Panton
Since joining Odyssey in the 6th grade, Zipporah Panton has become well-known for her vibrant, outgoing personality and her genuine love for connecting with people. A dedicated leader within the marching band, she took great pride in her role as Uniform Captain, ensuring her peers felt comfortable and prepared for every performance. Zipporah credits much of her growth to Ms. Kevelin, whose unwavering patience and dedication made the band room a second home filled with laughter and music—an experience she wouldn't trade for anything.
Following graduation, Zipporah plans to pursue a degree in Nursing. Guided by her faith and a desire to serve, she looks forward to exploring various hospital departments, from the NICU to the ICU, as she works toward becoming a Registered Nurse.
Jonas Petrocelli
Over the past six years as an Odyssey student, Jonas Petrocelli has found his purpose through the art of creation. Driven by a childhood dream to entertain, Jonas writes, produces, and directs projects across all genres, valuing the creative process above all else. He carries a deep appreciation for the power of human connection, often reflecting on a pivotal moment when a fellow student’s unexpected encouragement reminded him that there is always hope in humanity when people support one another.
A student of Mrs. Parrish, Jonas balances his creative drive with a love for Chicken Tinga and a clear post-graduation focus: "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (with a very strong preference for the former). Whether his works are liked or disliked, Jonas remains dedicated to bringing his visions to life and making his mark on the world of entertainment.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Mentorship
This week, we are shining a well-deserved spotlight on Rylee Pierre-Staddad and Nariyah Bent for their incredible initiative and leadership in Civics. Taking the lead on their own, these two students utilized Ms. Davenport’s materials to mentor a peer who isn't currently in the intervention program, ensuring they have the support needed to master the subject. It is inspiring to see Rylee and Nariyah dedicate their time to helping others succeed—true examples of the "Titan" spirit in action!

Senior Titan artist, Alanna Samuels Leon, earned 2nd Place at the Superintendent’s Juried Art Show for AP and Advanced Art students On Feb 25th for her stunning Heron sculpture. This is a wonderful achievement and a testament to Alanna’s dedication, creativity, and technical skill. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and the way she represented Odyssey Charter Jr/Sr High School.

Ninth graders recently stepped into the spotlight to rehearse their Cultural Fair presentations with a very important audience: our 7th graders!
This cross-grade collaboration gave 9th grade students the chance to refine their speaking skills, strengthen their confidence, and receive valuable feedback before the big event. Meanwhile, 7th graders got a preview of the incredible cultures, traditions, and research that will be showcased at the fair.
It was a great example of mentorship in action, with older students modeling preparation and presentation skills while building excitement for the upcoming Cultural Fair!
